A new housing development Lomandra Estate was being built in Romsey, Victoria. In order to attract more buyers, they needed to design the community spaces including the picnic area.
The project required a custom shelter and arbour, swale bridge, seating, picnic settings, bin enclosures and entrance signage. All elements would need to accompany each other to be aesthetically pleasing whilst being practical and robust.
Flemings Landscapes was contracted as the Landscape Architect in charge of the project.
ASCO was contracted to design, fabricate and install the structure and accompanying furniture.
The challenges during the construction period were the extremely wet weather and subsequent waterlogged site. This added complexity to construction activities, due to appropriate planning ASCO was able to overcome these challenges.
The first stage of the project was completed in January 2015.
As part of the project, ASCO completed structures for other stages in-between 2015 and 2017.
The result was a beautiful and functional space for the community of Lomandra Estate, their families and visitors to the area.
The Estate itself went on to win the UDIA Award for Excellence in 2017, for Residential Development under 250 lots. This award is a testament to the hard work and collaboration of all who were involved.
